About the Book

Our desire is to pay tribute to each of the aforementioned individuals who seem connected to one another by a tapestry of intricate common threads crossing cultural, gender, and generational lines. From our vantage point, they represent prime examples, verbal portraits of people who modeled their passion. They each were humble in character, great in the honesty utilized in exercising their craft. Each sojourn, literal and figurative, enabled them to travel miles of tension, wrestling, searching, struggle and revelation before they with one exception (Cronkite) transitioned to eternal sleep. Wearing well the traveling shoes of their life mission, their sojourn continues in their legacies. We don’t believe that anyone of them set out to be a hero or heroine, a ‘she-roe’ or ‘sheroine’ (author’s adaptation). We do believe that those great attributes were their destiny and that they willingly yielded to those ordained roles chosen for each of them by life itself.
