About the Book

“It was Easter time, and you’re supposed to be especially nice to each other at Easter. Or so I’d always thought.” So says Clare Maine, the sweet, smart but deluded wife of The Rev. Marston Maine IV, an Episcopal priest. But she was wrong, fatally wrong, at least about this particular Easter time in the small, fictitious Montana city of Bitterroot.

When her husband suffers a bad fall in his church early on Holy Saturday, Clare finds herself suspected of attempted murder. Later the same day, she finds a body in the church office, the apparent victim of another fall. Now the police are called. They have some doubt as to whether or not the falls were accidental...but agree to limit their investigations until after the Easter morning service.

Enmeshed in other people’s lies and old secrets, as well an incident in her own past she’d rather not have known, Clare tries to find out what’s behind the two “accidents.” Thanks to the Rev. Andrea Forsley, a rabbit costume, a religious statue and her own hard-won insights, Clare solves the mystery of the two falls, takes charge of her life, and stops a final murder attempt.
