About the Book

Randal and Ann Buckner want a baby. A little girl comes to live with them. Her name is Shammie. Randal likes the baby’s name. It seems to suite the little blue-eyed girl. There is something special about her. Sham has a brother. The Buckners get two babies! They are so happy. Sham is the oldest of three little children born to Mr. and Mrs. Bucker. Sham likes her new family. The Bucker family is not happy that Sham has this difficulty. They must help her. Granddaddy Donny and Grandmommy Manie are very pleased to have their first grandchildren. They also want to help. All pray God will help. Randal loves red like his “Big Daddy.” Sham likes red, too. Randal buys her red shoes and blue jeans, but she cannot wear them to church. Guess who is not happy. Shammie and Blade make a wonderful family. Sometimes Randal calls Blade “Little Froggie.” Little Froggy and Sham like to sleep on the “big bed” at Gramma Manie’s house. When the babies were little, granddaddy, grandmother, Sham and Blade all sleep there. Granddaddy said, “We have room for one moew.” Later, a baby sister is born. Randal and Ann see how beautiful she is and name her “Tessie.” Now, there are five in a bed.
