Most countries have folk tales about animals. In Ghana, a country in West Africa, folk tales are built around Anansi the spider. The stories illustrate both how clever and deceitful Anansi can be. About the Author

Christine Friar grew up in Ghana. She started writing and illustrating Anansi stories when her kids were young. She lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family, dog, cat and a chicken.
