In a Civil War period occurring in Louisiana and Texas, Captain James anticipates being a leader in that war. A brief romantic courtship precedes Melinda Raines and Jed James’ marriage. Melinda’s father leaves his commanding position to participate in a Confederate planning for battles’ strategies. He disappears on the way eastward. Passion, romance and innuendos beyond normality of the 19th century fill this book. Even a doctor’s words speak news and advice causing troublesome decisions by Melinda’s husband. In the story, a drifter’s position is misrepresented. His personal decisions affect the James’ family. Only politically correct characters are factual.

Marian Nell Thompson has written a historical fiction romance named WONDERFUL BUT TROUBLESOME TIMES. Now she writes a sequel entitled THE JAMES FAMILY – MOVING ON TO TEXAS. Marian’s interests increase in writing fiction with a historical background. Research of specific time warps come from published periodicals, tales Marian has heard on various media, and also realistically related family or extended family history stories. In taking writing courses and in teaching writing to her school students, Marian knows that even when stories are fictitious, a realistic aspect of reality must filter into her writings.
