About the Book
Step with young Cassidy into the beginnings of the American Occupation of Japan and his discovery of the world hidden inside the kimono. Go with him in his jeep through the Japanese Post-War landscape, from the rubble-strewn cities to the serene and untouched countryside surrounding the Japan Sea, where life had barely changed since feudal times and the GIs were treated like Lords.
About the Author
Like his young hero, Cassidy, author A.W. Crudden quit high school at 16 to join the Army. Following the Service, he returned to finish school and went on to college courtesy of the GI Bill. After completing undergraduate and graduate degrees, he taught at both the secondary and college levels, retiring with his wife to rural New York and New Mexico to write and to paint, respectively. They have two children and three grandchildren.
