Returning to our story, what is so interesting about this diseased woman is what is written in Mark 5:27, which reads, “When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment” (Emphasis Added). The word "garment” in Greek is “himation.” It is the outer robe (Thayer, 2003). This automatically means the woman heard about the healing powers that flowed from Jesus Christ. This woman was what I would call RELENTLESS! To be relentless means to be determined to reach a goal even IN THE FACE OF DIFFICULT OBSTACLES! Most likely, this woman had to fight through a crowd just to get to Jesus so she could just get a touch of His robe! If this woman was you or me in this modern day, we would have to turn sideways to slide through a small crack of daylight in the crowd! We would have to crawl through legs or small places to keep moving forward so we are not denied a chance to get to Jesus! And we would even have to outsmart other folks in the crowd, because they may have been trying to do the same thing! No one knows exactly what the woman had to go through to get to Jesus, but one thing we do know is she was willing and able to put in a little effort in order that she could get that small little touch that she so FERVENTLY DESIRED! This woman was not to be denied! She was determined that she was not going to allow her blessing to PASS HER BY!
You and I can also apply this principle to our lives. When we ask for something in prayer from God, sometimes it doesn't come right away. However, that does not mean it isn't going to come. Take a lesson from the woman with the issue of blood. She had to suffer with this disease for 12 whole years, before she even came in contact with the One Who could heal her! So it is with Christian prayers sometimes. We may not get an instant blessing, but we cannot give up on God and our prayer! We must persist in faith, even if it takes years to come true. Remember, whatever is God's Will MUST come true in its time. Time can be the biggest enemy to our faith, but it should not defeat our faith. You never know, the moment that God is about to drop our blessing in our laps may be the same day we give up and say that God won't answer our prayer. Always keep in mind the following Words taken from James 1:6-7, according to the American Standard Version, which reads, “6 But let him ask in faith, nothing doubting: for he that doubteth is like the surge of the sea driven by the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord…” Don't let time beat you! Beat time with patience and you will see a difference in your life and blessings that God will be willing to give you!
The Bible goes on to tell us why the woman was so determined to touch Jesus. It says in Mark 5:28, which reads, “For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.” The Bible is showing us this woman had the faith to know that if she could come in contact with the Healer, Jesus Christ, then her disease would be taken away from her. In other words, this woman had an unshakable faith in the healing powers of the Master! This drove her to possess a relentless, never quit attitude driving her to receive her blessing of healing from the Lord! She knew if only she could get a small touch of Jesus that His awesome power would usher in a great change in her life!
We can learn a lot from this woman in the AREA OF FAITH! Faith in Jesus MOVES HIM TO ACTION that CAUSES CHANGE in our lives. Because of their faith in Jesus Christ, Christians can confidently pray for changes in their lives. The Word of God tells us the following in Hebrews 4:16, which reads, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Emphasis Added). God is telling His Christian children of God to not come timidly and afraid to Him in prayer when we are in need. He is telling us to come WITH CONFIDENCE to Him where we will find COMPASSION AND GOD'S FAVOR to help us when we are in need! In fact, God tells all Christian children of God to come to Him with ALL OUR NEEDS AND HE WILL SUPPLY THEM according to His Will. Remember, the woman with the issue of blood came boldly to Jesus, because SHE WOULD NOT BE DENIED HER BLESSING and was CONFIDENT that she was going to get it if she only touched the Lord! These are precious promises God has made to the child of God in Philippians 4:6-7 And Philippians 4:19.
Always keep the inspiring words of Philippians 4:6-7 on your hearts. It reads, “6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Furthermore, Philippians 4:19 also inspires all Christians. It promises, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” All of a Christian's needs are supplied and fulfilled by the POWER of Jesus Christ!
Have you touched Him so that you can receive YOUR BLESSINGS from the Lord?
