About the Book

This book is designed for students who need additional preparation for math classes, at North Park University, numbered 1020 or higher. The book covers all the topics that are required by the school which are: topics in beginning and intermediate algebra such as: equations and inequalities, systems, polynomials, factoring, graphing, roots and radicals, rational functions, quadratic equations, and conic sections. Most of the topics covered in this book are applied in our daily life; the proof is in the application sections. For some students this is the course they need to take, for others just the first in series of many depending on students' major. The text explains the method of solving problems step by step, and shows more than one method to solve a problem, also shows how to solve problems graphically and using technology (TI) so the student will learn how to solve problem algebraically, then see the solution graphically. Most of the chapters are ended with application section to learn how to apply the topic to real life situation. Also, at the end of each chapter there is a chapter exercise, and a chapter test, students can use the chapter exercise as a study guide for test. My goal of writing this book is to make it easy for students to read through each page and doesn't overwhelm, or complicate Intermediate Algebra, but gives the skills and practice that the need.
