RISTER INTERNATIONAL MARTIAL ARTS CURRICULUM GUIDE First Edition

This textbook contains the curriculum for the Rister International Martial Arts (RIMA) training program. It covers the arts of Wing Chun, Kali/Eskrima, Panantukan, Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, including the RIMA knife fighting system. While this textbook is the first published edition, it is the result of decades of curriculum revisions. It is important to underscore that this is not a comprehensive compilation of the entire martial arts system, as no publication could be that all-inclusive. This manual is a distillation of how to train in these very complicated arts in a systematized way that allows the practitioner to develop more rapidly. This manual is intended to be used as an accompaniment to direct training with Rister International Martial Arts under the Head Instructor, Jon Rister. This textbook cannot be used in place of direct training. No ranking is offered without direct training under Guro Jon Rister. The terminology in this book may differ in connotation than what is typically understood. Terms may also differ when compared to other martial arts schools or systems. Moreover, the spelling of various terminology can differ, even among our various publications. There are so many written variations of the terms across all the different systems of martial arts that we mainly use a phonetic form of the foreign language. This has sometimes been a cause of debate and argument among dedicated practitioners. However, it is not our intention to offend or provoke anything contentious with regard to terminology. Lastly, let me emphasize that this textbook is a curriculum training guide. The purpose of this training guide is to systematize a very large volume of information from all the various arts, and to allow one to see more clearly what is required at every level of training. Ultimately, the intention is to make training in all of these arts more efficient and retainable. This is not an expounding of the history of these martial arts, neither is it an exposition of fighting concepts.
