About the Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vanessa Hammonds is a wife, a mother of five, and a bonus mother of one. At 32, she has been in the education and childcare field for 14 years. Vanessa, affectionately known as “Nes” has two degrees; both in the field of psychology and is working on her third. She has numerous certifications and awards but her favorite and most important accolade is being a Mom. Nes has always been an advocate for education, reading, and positive affirmations which is why writing, and publishing children’s books is such a huge accomplishment for her. Her children’s books are based on the lives and interests of her children. It is a desire to produce an entire line of children’s books focusing on important topics that will raise awareness, inspire, and give hope. Be on the lookout for “Magical Hair” coming Spring 2022! Enjoy! ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR Zhiyana Hammonds (pronounced Zee-yah-nuh) is the eldest daughter of the author. At a tender age of 12 years old, Zhi has had a love for art since she could hold a pencil. She has received multiple awards for her drawings and abstract paintings. She continues master her craft by attending a weekly art studio, drawing pictures, painting portraits of family and friends, making comic books, and illustrating books. Zhi’s wit, intelligence, talent, and self-confidence has always landed her on the honor roll in school, a recipient of numerous awards, her art exhibited in art shows, and praised for being herself and embracing who she is at all times.
