About the Book
Here in this very interesting and highly thought-provoking novel, I have outlined the differences, but far more importantly the many similarities between two incredibly powerful and iconic time periods These two time periods being discussed here are: 1/ The Roman Empire and our own 2/ Modern Times Although the book has been written predominantly as a historical fiction novel, therefore making it far easier for the reader to then compare the two incredible time periods. This has been achieved by closely following one man’s incredible journey throughout his very full and eventful life, whilst also including many important mind-boggling facts and figures that have been used here to emphasise certain comparisons along the way After Vincent going back to ancient Rome and spending time improving the miserable lives of the poverty-stricken masses by offering them the necessities of life with the strong support of Emperor Vespasian around 78 CE. Later he is then sent reluctantly into the iconic Colosseum as a Gladiator to fight the Wolves owned by Emperor Domitian and him fortunately becoming victorious. Vincent is basically encouraged and then forced to finally return to Modern Times at its conclusion. While here, him noticing that things are quickly starting to turn a similar and negative way to where he has recently just come from which really concerns him, and now something he becomes very passionate about rectifying to once again help the great masses. Therefore, he now begins to find a positive solution to this ongoing predicament and fortunately triumphs against all the odds after campaigning as an American Senator. This is successfully achieved after travelling across the western American states with his loyal mate and him later then becoming the President. For basically at the end of the day the most important concept being focussed on here,’ Is that all human beings regardless of what period they live in deserve the right to the very basic necessities of life no matter what their personal beliefs, colour or nationality is! So subsequently, then hopefully avoiding the masses from falling on or below the dreaded ‘poverty line’. This is simply because once there, it becomes very difficult for the individual to change their overall circumstances as they continue to spiral further down both mentally and physically. Consequently, at its conclusion you will then be able to see quite clearly the many positives and negatives that are, and that have occurred during such very bold times now, and in the very distant past. You will notice too, that although the two iconic time periods are and indeed seem totally worlds apart at times; ironically the way in which daily life ran or continues to run within each period is in fact, not that different at all! So, the two questions specifically being asked here are, ‘Does history really have the ability to repeat itself without, us even being aware of it happening right in front of our very eyes? And even more importantly, ‘Are we really concerned as a society about its negative impacts and consequences that are left behind?’.
