About the Book

Dreams and Desires takes place in the Victorian Age. Sited in England and Virginia, and inspired by her great-grandmother’s diary, the author has written a highly-fictionalized story of Sarah, a young English girl who is banished, for a time, to America. It is also the story of the three men whose lives are inextricably entwined with her own: the man she loves, the man she marries, and the man who is the father of her children.

About the Author

Clara Stevenson is a graduate of Peirce Business College in Philadelphia and for a time was employed by the Presbyterian Board of Christian Education. Later, she was the Home Service Director of the Gloucester County New Jersey Chapter of the American Red Cross before working for several years at the General Offices of the Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ. Her own dream, long-deferred, was to write. She lives in southern New Jersey as she always has and is the author of The New Minister; The Devil’s Booth; Bits and Pieces; and Dreams and Desires as well as several children’s picture books including Osborne, the Literary Mouse.
