About the Book

Extensive travel was a key feature of Kenneth Clare’s career. After early years living in a small, Midwestern town, he relocated to the west coast, later moved to the mountain states and still later settled on the east coast. For a considerable number of years, his career as an economist was marked by extensive domestic travel. In mid-career, he began work as an international development economist and, over a period of many years, traveled to nearly a hundred countries, living in certain countries several months and visiting numerous other countries shorter periods of time. These travels involved fascinating experiences many of which are related in this memoir.
