Red Treachery Black Slavery

The fifty-year history of the Texas frontier between the 1820's and 1870's in the settlement of Texas by Anglo-Americans resulted in hostile conflicts with Native Americans, being essentially turf disputes and the cultural differences being civilization versus barbarism. Moreover, there occurred in the four-decade era between the 1820's and 1860's the enslavement and harsh treatments indentured Blacks on plantations. Both were dark histories in the settlement of the Texas frontier.
